Gratuitous Necktie Post!

Because I got a new multifunction printer/copier/scanner, and because I know you all want to check out the kind of flavor that I favor...

Schwing! What's the make and model?

[identity profile] dlgood.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Epson Stylus CX 4800. It's pretty good, and most importantly, a huge step up over the six year-old POS I was limping along with.

You win the dork award!

You know me and my ties.

*sigh*

I miss ties. I am a wicked tie picker-outer, and I'd have to say one of the things I like least about not being married/dating, is that I have no one to buy ties for (sniff-sniff)!

Thanks for the fix!

These ties, actually, are all my own picks. But like you, I do like picking out ties - though generally for myself. Just think, maybe someday, your sons will have real office jobs - non-business casual ones, and you can buy them quality neckwear.

Yes indeed!

Still - for me, it's more fun dressing a lover than my children (and they haven't let me pick out clothes for them in forever, and I don't see that changing anytime soon!)

Thanks. These are two of my favorites

Thanks to me and my skill in picking out ties, my husband owns the first and second ties in the top row, a style like that pink one but in blue, and the second one in the bottom row. So, apparently I could buy ties for you. It's a skill or something.

[identity profile] dlgood.livejournal.com 2006-05-02 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Uh-oh. I guess I'll have to never show up at an event with your husband. Because two dudes wearing the same tie is even worse than when two women show up somewhere with the same dress. Ah well. Good think I have about thirty more on the rack.

i'm intriqued by both the floral and the p inkish thing

[identity profile] dlgood.livejournal.com 2006-05-02 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. The floral is one I've had for a very long time. And the pink is one of my newer faves.

Hey! I think the tie maker stole some of my old drapes to make that floral tie...
Men's ties are an interesting fashion statement; maybe someone should write a thesis on the meaning of patterned versus non patterned ties.

[identity profile] dlgood.livejournal.com 2006-05-02 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Patterned vs. Non-Patterned? I think you'd need to be more specific. I have no non-patterened ties. I only have one single-color tie, but it's stitched in a way that gives it texture and an apparent pattern.

Now, if you're talking about specific types of patterns - there probably are books on that. As you can probably guess - I'm more a fan of the geometrics. Lines and shapes, rather than curves or artwork patterns. Or paisley's and things of that nature. But my style is conservative - definitely not of the Jerry Garcia tie (http://www.neckties.com/Mens/Designer/Brand_Name_Ties/@Jerry_Garcia/) ilk.

Hmm, I guess I was thinking of flowers and sailboats and stuff like that as opposed to lines and stripes. I remember my Dad had a tie with a hand painted hula girl on it!
Jerry Garcia was obviously on drugs if he designed those ties...yowza!
