Hey! I think the tie maker stole some of my old drapes to make that floral tie... Men's ties are an interesting fashion statement; maybe someone should write a thesis on the meaning of patterned versus non patterned ties.
Patterned vs. Non-Patterned? I think you'd need to be more specific. I have no non-patterened ties. I only have one single-color tie, but it's stitched in a way that gives it texture and an apparent pattern.
Now, if you're talking about specific types of patterns - there probably are books on that. As you can probably guess - I'm more a fan of the geometrics. Lines and shapes, rather than curves or artwork patterns. Or paisley's and things of that nature. But my style is conservative - definitely not of the Jerry Garcia tie (http://www.neckties.com/Mens/Designer/Brand_Name_Ties/@Jerry_Garcia/) ilk.
Hmm, I guess I was thinking of flowers and sailboats and stuff like that as opposed to lines and stripes. I remember my Dad had a tie with a hand painted hula girl on it! Jerry Garcia was obviously on drugs if he designed those ties...yowza!
