Have been busy at work, and thus, not very present on LJ. The congressional committees are gearing up for the defense authorization hearings and as such, we have much preparation to do for shipbuilding programs. Oscars were awarded to films I did not see. Kirby Puckett died. Maryland actually won a few basketball games.

So I shall take a momentary break to remind you all that puppies are very cute, and they make me happy. Here's a photo of Sofie, the parentals' five month old miniature schnauzer.

And I've linked this pic to a larger version. She's such a sweetie. Affectionate, and remarkably well behaved for a spunky terrier. Super cute!

What a beautiful puppy! Thanks for the pic!

You're welcome.

super cute indeed.

And did you see any of the best pic nominees?

I saw Munich and Good Night, and Good Luck. I did not see the other three.

Those are the 2 I haven't seen! What did you think of Munich? I seen some reviews that make it appear that Speilberg feels Isreal is just asguilt as the terrorists, so I'm curious as to your take.

I seen some reviews that make it appear that Speilberg feels Isreal is just as guilty as the terrorists

Most of the places I've seen that argument, are people with agendas.
There's no element that ever says the terrorists were justified in what they did. And they don't equate...

What you have, is a debate within the film over whether it's justified what they're doing. And whether all the murder and blood is ever going to really do anyone any good. It's not answered. And it is a film that shows both the Israelis and the Palestinians as people who have existences beyond just fighting and dying.

Where it inflames, is even showing that debate within Israel at all. On the right, in the US and Israel, people don't like to question... there were people living there, and to make Israel ... it took a lot of blood. And this is a movie that has a conscience about that. My grandparents generation didn't. The Charles Krauthammer's of the world don't, either.

Oh, I love her ears! I love the half-mast ears, just love them. And she's lying there, looking so good.

She's lovely. Although, we must confess to a trick on her ears. For the past few months, she'd always had one ear up and one ear down. My parents got these little sticky pads you can put on the inside of the ear flap - and the result was that both ears started flopping down the way they're supposed to. And now, she folds them right.

Ahhh, so there's a trick to it. I understand, now.

I'm happy to hear that your parents got a new puppy. She looks beautiful.

They've had her since November. And it's great, since my Mom was shaving some terrible empty nesting going on.

Are her eyes really blue? Or is that the pic?

And omg, so cute!
Wednesday, March 8th, 2006 02:37 (UTC)
No, not actually blue. Dogs get blue eye in photos the way people get red eye.
Wednesday, March 8th, 2006 06:06 (UTC)
I wonder why that is. It's so weird!

she's cute

She's just adorable. I love miniature Schnauzers, at least the one that I know. Stanley, my friend Sue's dog, is the sweetest natured boy. He's a flawed Schnauzer, though...he has brown on his back and on his muzzle. The breeder was mortified. We love him anyway.
