1. In Basketball news, Sunday's 70-61 win over UVa should clinch an 11th straight NCAA Tourney appearance for Maryland.

2. Am too unfocused to sign up for any of the current ficathons. I lack story ideas. On the other hand, I will Beta for food.

3. Saw sneak preview of the upcoming David Mamet film, Spartan. It was actually the least insufferable Val Kilmer performance I've caught since Heat, but I didn't like it all that much. For a Mamet script, the dialogue seemed awfully clipped, and the story felt more than a bit unrealistic and forced. Ah well.

Democrat
Threat rating: High. The Bush administration is
concerned that it may not get a second term.
Therefore, we are going to change the rules so
that each Democrat vote only counts as 0.2
votes because Democrat is a shorter word than
Republican

What threat to the Bush administration are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

That's about right.

1.) Yay!
2.) a. Boo!
b. Yay!
3.) Mostly neutral on all Val Kilmer performances except Top Secret. *G*
4.) Hee! I'm an atheist. Everybody else seems to be morally deficient. I like yours the best so far. *G*

4. Well, I do periodically work as a partisan hack - and I sometimes try to get out the vote on election day. That's pretty dangerous, yo.

That's pretty dangerous, yo.

Seriously, homes. You're probably on the Big List of Subversives.

Christ, I'm so torn on this film. I really like Mamet generally, but I loathe, loathe, loathe Val Kilmer. Honestly, I don't think I can sit through two hours of watching him.

Well, it won't be out for another week or so. If you're torn, I'd advise you to wait for the reviews. There are generally a set of reviewers in the Washington Post that - based upon their reviews - I'll know whether a given film will work for me or not.

What helps here, is that there wasn't a romantic plot or subplot, and Val Kilmer is loathesome given romantic storylines.

I will Beta for food

Cool! I am so gonna need a beta what with the muse whipping and all.

I'm getting all psyched by March Madness. The Irishman hates this time of year. All I do is watch basketball and sneer at him as he loses the pool. I don't have a system for picking. I usually just go for the underdogs and whoever I think is decent and the little news I've actually paid attention to in the week before the Madness starts.

We should do something.

Me - I pick teams based upon who I've seen play during the season, or which players get lots of publicity. The Tourney pool is just about my favorite thing. I've won, maybe two or three times, in the last ten years, but it's always fun.

We should do something.

If only I were still in Ann Arbor. We could totally skip our classes and watch basketball all day at ScoreKeepers. One of my professors actually adjourned classes to the TouchDown Cafe.

I'll probably post my Bracket in my LJ for unnoffical purposes - and so people can mock me. Hopefully, I'tll come out better than my Bowl Game Picks.

Ooooo. I never thought about this. How are you gonna do this? I want to do this too.

so people can mock me

There will be no mocking. Just mucho dancing and shoutouts. Tell you what, you can mock me if I mock you. I always think Duke's never gonna make it to the Elite Eight.

I'm not sure yet what I'll do. Maybe I can set up a Free Bracket on ESPN's website. Otherwise, I'll just type the lines.

Example:

East Region

First Round Second Round Third Round Fourth

1 vs 16 winner 1 vs 8 winner 1 vs 4 winner 1 vs 2 winner
8 vs 9
4 vs 13 4 vs 5
5 vs 12
6 vs 11
3 vs 14 3 vs 6
7 vs 10
2 vs 15 2 vs 7 2 vs 3

And so on...
