So, this Sunday, April 22, 2007 - my younger sister Meredith married her long-time sweetheart Adam. And we couldn't have been happier.

As I remarked in my toast: (my sister was Merrie's maid-of-honor but doesn't like to give speeches, so I took her place)

"As an older sibling, you put some thought into the kind of person you want your baby sister to spend her life with... and what to do about the losers she dates until she meets that person."

"We didn't have to do a lot of work with Adam. He disarms our big-sibling over-protectiveness, which, if you know Meredith is pretty unnecessary anyway. If we were ever going to have tests, Adam would pass them all."

Adam is a good kid. After college, he kept up a long distance relationship with my sister, and chose to move down here from New York to be with her. He's got a good job and career prospects, he's smart, funny, kind and loyal... and he has the same sort of appreciation for family that we do. On the downside, he's not jewish and he's short, but these are the sorts of things you overlook. After all, nobody's perfect.

He makes my sister happy. That's all we could ever ask for. Having a brother-in-law that is a good friend is lovely bonus.

Here's a photo of them in front of the McKeldin Library at the University of Maryland campus. Aren't they so damn cute!

In any case, the wedding (at the University of Maryland chapel) was lovely, and we got ourselves a very funny rabbi to run the show. Our reception also was great - my family isn't the wildest bunch but we do know how to throw parties. I got... very drunk... and had quite the sociable time. (Sociable enough to need to take an extra day off...)

The party ended at 930, but a bunch of us went to hit the bars (still in the tuxes) afterwards, so that had something to do with it. I got to see a lot of our widespread friends and family, and that really is one of the things I live for so it was just really, really great.

A photo of Merrie wearing her wedding dress in the limo on the way to the chapel. (taken by my sister)

Good Times!

That picture of her in the car is so beautiful! She looks full to bursting with Joy. She's very pretty. I love her dress.

She really is. I know she was really looking forward to this day, and it was perfect. We're very happy for her. (And us too)
