I am still alive. Usually, I only post here.
In special news, I'm taking a new job - leaving a position I've held for almost seven years. It's work at the same company, in a different aspect of my industry. I really liked my old job, and could have stayed there had I switched to a new company. But there are extenuating circumstances...
For the past seven years, I have been working overnight. This has some merits. I was free to set my pace, I had autonomy, I could telework frequently... I avoided rush hour, could dress in casual clothes, and didn't have to pay to park. (Which in the DC area, is not cheap) I also really liked what I was doing.
On the other hand, working overnight imposed serious complications to my social life and planning. It made taking leave very difficult. And I didn't have the strong connection to my current cast of work team members - not like I'd enjoyed earlier in my run in the post.
So it was pretty much time for that change.
