I'm fortunate to come from a pretty stable and caring family, so I'm mostly left with the light comedic material.
Both big sis and I still live within a 20 mile radius of the parents, so we have the occasional family dinners. Tonight, we met up in Laurel, as the folks were picking up Little Sister at the train station.
Anyway, Big Sis has recently begun going out with one of her old college buddies, a really good guy that we've known and been friends with for about 13 or so years. It's two weeks, and it seems like mom is already mentally looking at invitations. I don't begrudge my mother her excitement, but she's talking way too much about this. Sis is just trying to relax and have some fun, and doesn't really need the pressure or attention. I gave her the brief "I like the guy, am happy if you are, have fun" comments and figure sis will or will not tell me what she feels like. We're low key and good that way.
Point being - everytime I watch my mom get like this, it makes me want to talk to her less. Granted, secrecy will only make her more insistent and curious, but mine is a quiet rebellion. Should have flaunted the dating back when like little sis did and just gotten myself innoculated. Too late for that now.
Otherwise, I will sit back and remain amused by big sister's exasperation with mom.
