New Job + Icon Request

I will spare the boring Softball Stats update, as it bores even me. (We lost again.) Also, my rotator cuff is bothering me something fierce. It hurts to throw overhand... Like really hurts. I probably shouldn't even be playing second base, which I have for the past few weeks - but I can make the throw sidearm most of the time without hurting myself. I need to find better exercises for that.

Tomorrow, I official start work over in the Submarine Office. Which means, I should no longer be using my DDX icon. I think I want to do something with the USS Texas, the next Submarine to be commissioned into the fleet. (8 Sept 06) I think the logo is pretty sweet, although I'm not thrilled with my iconing of it.



The text becomes too small and unreadable, and also I would want some sort of border/background blending action rather than a white icon. And I don't have skills for that. So maybe one of the heroes on my FList could do so.

Sadly, there will be no surfing of LJ or checking of private email while on site. So my fandom presence will likely decrease. At least I will be in an environment much more conducive to morale such that I won't miss it too badly...

It's a submarine. The goal was to be all superduper great at penetrating the water with minimized resistance. Can we help it if that works out all phallus-like?

Hmm, I've been trying. The background is easy, but getting the lettering to show up clearly is difficult. White text with a black border just doesn't cut it when you shrink the image to 100x100.

I'll keep trying though. I'm going to see if I can change the text to black. Is that okay?

Give it a shot. If it can't be made to work, I guess you could just get rid of the text on the logo itself and just float a "USS Texas SSN 775" onto it somewhere...

Very cool looking. And speaking of cool (I should've done this ages ago...), the spawn were very very impressed with the stuff you gathered up for them! I showed them your autograph and Eldest Spawn said "you know him?"
