Will try to consider posting comments re:Tahoe at a later time. Honestly - but in the meanwhile would rather go back to simple TV Talk.

Hung out with [livejournal.com profile] glumpish and [livejournal.com profile] sista_karen yesterday and had much fun talk and viewing of TV - including the exciting experience of having Karen watch "Profit" for the first time. Audience reaction shots to this show are priceless...

The real gem of our day, however, was watching the Two-Parter Magnum PI Episode "Echoes of the Mind" featuring Sharon Stone. Was so impressed by what the show was doing - keeping in mind the datedness and lame Higgins subplot - that I found myself really liking it in a very unironic way. Which was quite surprising. We were all taken by how surprisingly dark the show was, and also by Selleck's overpowering hair moustache and eyebrows.

As final gift, I present links to both the original opening credits with original theme, and the second credits with second theme song. Yikes - a good thing they dropped the original, because it's just lame lame lame. Whereas, the Magnum PI song I remember is just about the coolest TV Theme Song Ever... (YOuTube continues to be the awesomest thing ever!)

Oh yeah. It's not just that I thought the show was awesome for going as dark as it did, but also watching people be shocked. Like you're "there's going to be a comeuppance, right?"... question.

I like to keep a silent "Oh my lord!/Holy crap!" count (for me, and for my friends) when watching a TV show - and the more of those moments a show has, the more I tend to like it. "Profit" is a clubhouse leader.
