I just don't have any new content to generate, so in lieu of thinking hard about writing something, I'll open the floor to that Top Five / Five Questions Meme...
Actually, the Redskins went 10-6 and won a playoff game, so they didn't suck. But I'll give you "Things About the Redskins That Suck"
1. The racist team nickname and logo 2. The jerking around of Patrick Ramsey and LaVar Arrington 3. The anemic offense and the ineptitude of Taylor Jacobs 4. Asshole owner, Daniel M. Snyder 5. Making the marching band tromp around in 30+ year old uniforms
1. Wreckx-N-Effect - Rump Shaker 2. Toni! Tony! Tone! - Feels Good 3. Bell Biv Devoe - Poison 4. Al B. Sure! - Nite and Day 5. Keith Sweat - I Want Her
Non-New Jack Songs? Hmm... Lets pick Five Rap/Hip-Hop Songs of the New Jack Era, that are not New Jack Songs...
1. NWA - Express Yourself 2. House of Pain - Jump Around 3. Tribe Called Quest - Oh My God 4. Dr. Dre - Nuthin' But a G Thang 5. Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock - It Takes Two
1. Draft a pass rushing defensive end 2. dump Taylor Jacobs and add at least one starting quality reciever 3. Trade Patrick Ramsey, preferrably turning that into offensive line or secondary depth 4. Upgrade punter and kicker 5. Start playing Jason Campbell. A healthy Mark Brunell is a credible quarterback, but I would be very surprised if Brunell were healthy and effective come January 2007.
I didn't watch the game against the Seahawks, but was the line play (on either offense or defense) one of the problems? And I've always been surprised that successive coaches have stuck with Ramsey, since he's never shown much promise. Of course, I thought the same thing about Hasselbeck, so what do I know.
Line play wasn't much of a problem - but the O-line's first backup was a 43-year-old who has since retired. They need at least one or two guys who can be ready to play and won't be awful - as the 7th lineman was this year.
And on defense, they've generally not gotten good pressure from their down linemen. A quality pass rushing end will reduce the amount of times they have to blitz and make life easier for the D.
As to Ramsey - nobody ever stuck with him. Basically, that was always the thing in DC. That he seemed like a good kid, who was always under pressure, and didn't really get much of a shot. Nobody here was happy with how Gibbs treated him... I.E. if you aren't going to play him, and you aren't even interested in coaching him, then trade him while he has some value.
As opposed to Taylor Jacobs who had a chance and stunk.
Rivalries (particularly in terms of games I always watch)
1. Army - Navy 2. Michigan - Ohio State 3. Alabama - Auburn 4. Stanford - Cal 5. Miami - Florida State
Games: (See this post (http://dlgood.livejournal.com/71622.html))
1. Maryland comes back at Miami (1984) 2. Virginia stops FSU at the goal line (1995) 3. FSU goes wide right against Miami (1991) 4. Georgia Tech at the gun over UVa (1990) 5. Doug Flutie's Hail Mary, BC over Miami (1984)
Reasons I Like College Football:
1. Season tickets are $80. 2. Marching Bands instead of piped in music, scratchy PA Announcers 3. Fun offenses like the Triple Option and the Hawaii Run & Shoot 4. Storming the field when your team wins a huge game 5. The voice of Keith Jackson
1. Shuriken 2. Welsh Longbow 3. Model 73 Winchester Rifle 4. Greek Fire 5. the club
Seriously. The Club. Sure, there are more robust weapons systems out there. But if you're going to get violent, there's not much more thrilling than just clubbing the crap out of something.
1. Lost (The TV Show) 2. Harry Potter (which is to say, I read one of the books, I don't get it being a big deal) 3. People who won't say they're sorry "because actions speak louder than words" - Saying you're sorry is an action. An act of humility. 4. American Idol/Survivor. I know people love these shows. I watch them, and I feel nothing. 5. Soccer. Sorry. I know it's the worlds most beloved sport. It does nothing for me.
Five things you find as entertaining/interesting as sports Five things you like about yourself Five things you don't Five people (living or dead) you'd invite to a dinner party
1. Sanford & Gunn 2. Angel/Kojak - set in 1970s NYC 3. BtVS/Scrubs - Xander is JD's very special patient of the week, Willow geeks out with Elliot, and Buffy is repeatedly hit on by The Todd. None of the Scrubs characters ever learn about the supernatural. Except, possibly, Ted or the Janitor. 4. BtVS/Family Ties - Mallory Keaton is mother of a new slayer. Wackiness ensues 5. AtS/Profit
