I'd like to go out and pimp Matt Keville's Lesser Evils.

Rating: PG-14.
Characters: S4 Cast
Spoilers: None, really. Set between "Hush" and "The ‘I’ In Team"
Summary: Buffy’s principles are tested when she is faced with an all-too-common human evil.

This is set during the period of time when Buffy is dating Riley, but it's not really a Buffy/Riley story. It's really about Buffy trying to deal with a situation that may or may not lie within the bounds of her duty, and how she must reconcile her desire to combat non-supernatural evils with her respect for human laws. It's also about a case where Buffy must protect she despises from a supernatural evil she finds sympathetic.

It's the sort of story that could have happened when Buffy was in college, but didn't. Go. Read.

He did finish that story? It's one of the few which have managed to make me read B/Rscenes without escaping in fear at the second one. But it was a WIP when I read it. Hmm, I hope I'll have some time for it this week, would be good, if even to re-read it.

As noted, it's a fic where Buffy happens to be dating Riley, not a B/R fic. I have nothing against Riley Finn, so no objections to what Matt's doing here. It fits really well into canon and characterization. That's what matters to me.
