There's been some stuff going down recently, and I've been somewhat under the weather as well. So I've been commenting a little, but not really all that around. Events included:

Friday, went down to Richmond to catch some folks performing in a coffee shop - notably [livejournal.com profile] alleynyc, who I have finally gotten to see perform. It helps when she has a show closer to my neck of the woods.

Performers, with links to sites:
Addie Brownlee
Alex Sweeton
Andi Rae Healy

The show was excellent, and we had some fun conversation in the diner afterward.

Sunday, had lunch downtown with [livejournal.com profile] sneaker328 and [livejournal.com profile] glumpish. The metro ride home included much gushing on the awesomeness of Profit and the Wackiness of Dave Boreanaz.

And then, my parents got a puppy. I'm going to take a stand and say something here...

Puppies are cute. I'm very happy, particularly for my mom, who needs to have something or someone to take care of and focus her affection on, or she'll go batty. Sofie is a cute little Miniature Schnauzer, and through four days of ownership has been a total sweetheart. And astonishingly well behaved.

The Picture Show, linked for those who wish to look at the (definitely not evil) litle dog.

I think it's very brave of you to come down on the side of puppies being cute.

I know I tend to shy away from controversy, but sometimes, I just have to take a stand.

What breed is the puppy? Very cute, btw.

Miniature Schnauzer. And it would be the family's third:
Sammy (1974 - 1988)
Casey (1988 - 2005)
Sofie (2005 - )

We've had good luck so far, and she seems to be a winner.

Thanks for coming to the show. And for the plug!

That puppy is the cutest thing ever (next to Molly, of course). OMG!!

YOu are welcome. And yes. Very Cute.

A well-behaved Schnauzer puppy? There is such a thing? *boggles* I'll have to see if I can download the pictures at home so I can squeal at the cuteness.

Indeed, there is a well behaved Puppy. Which, indeed, astonished me. She doesn't bark. She's not overly rambunctious. She has remarkable bladder control.

As of yet, the only flaw I've discovered in this dog is that instead of teething on my fingers, as I would prefer, she's going straight for the tendons of my forearm.

Police dog in training? Did I tell you that one of my Schnauzers' moms had actually been trained to be a mini-guard dog for an elderly woman? Dodger was the most protective mini-Schnauzer I've ever had.

Awwww! Thank you so much for sharing! She looks kinda like Rogue and Li'l, when they were puppies.

BTW - tonight we had the "doggie sees her own reflection for the first time and freaks out" experience. Finally got to see her bark and act like a crazy puppy. It was very cute.

Ah, for those first puppy experiences! They're the best!

That doggie is a total cutie. And did SNeaker come to you or did you go to SNeaks?
Thursday, November 17th, 2005 02:39 (UTC)
SNeaker was down in DC. We met her for lunch at the JCC.

Take solace in living in a town that has a Naked Mile...

Had.

And I ran Baker 13 twice anyway.

Aww, what a cutie! I like that her ears aren't docked..I think Schnauzers look better with little floppy ears. My friend Sue has a lovely miniature Schnauzer, Stanley. He's got the nicest personality, a total sweetheart. I think I like this breed, if he's any example of it.

Sammy had floppy ears. Casey's were already cropped. We've had great dogs - Sammy and Casey were each a little high-strung and territorial in some regard, but were great pets nevertheless. We've done well by the breed.
