I do wish those on my Flist a happy, mother’s day. The griping I’ll soon put forth, given circumstances, is still pretty petty. There are folks in dire straits, financially or health wise. Or in one manner or another. My life is pretty blessed these days. I even have a remarkably large tax refund coming …

On the other hand, in the past month I have
  1. Had to replace a blown-out monitor
  2. re-install windows twice on my computer, and reinstall a ton of software
  3. retain an electrician to check out a faulty circuit
  4. get the cable guy to come out to rewire the line to the box, because of an inordinately weak signal
  5. hire a roofer to fix leaks into my bathroom and bedroom
  6. get a new ceiling fan/light fixture in my bedroom
  7. fix the floor seal of a toilet bowl
  8. replace a broken toilet tank
  9. replace my locks after one of the deadbolts broke
  10. re-paint a bedroom
  11. undertake a time-consuming, expensive, and joy-draining spring cleaning project
  12. despite being a remarkably competitive/argumentative person by nature, and largely successful professionally because of that, been reassigned to support a customer that cannot abide any form of challenge or contradiction of ideas

Ah, and my pal Dusty had a Renaissance-themed period wedding, and will be moving to Lawrence, Kansas. Which, sad, because we were pretty tight these past ten or so years. I’ll post a pic of the party when I get them. Note, he just had his dad and the best man (and her brothers) so no [livejournal.com profile] dlgood in garb.

Well, you'll just have to come to Lawrence to visit! :)

Is he moving here for school?

And I don't even want to think about the home projects I have. *groan*

Not on the docket any time soon, but a yours truly to Lawrence trip is a possibility.

Ew, my sympathies. Lots of little problems can be more annoying than one big one, because you feel like it won't ever end.

And now... can I exploit your pain? Where'd you get the electrician, and do you recommend him/her? I have two ceiling fixtures that don't work. I'm sure it's trivial and easy to fix, but I don't trust myself to deal with it.

I was recc'ed "Chris" at the phone # 301-414-0087 by this dude Bill, who was a friend of one of my parents friends, and a retired electrician.

I'm not sure exactly where you are, or if they're in your area. Folks were prompt and did a good job, but I should warn you, electricians aren't cheap. Like, generally, $44 per half-hour, plus appearance fee...
