Courtesy of my older sister, who had it scanned... and feeling nostalgic following my aunt's funeral, I've gone ahead and put up a picture of the Goodman clan from way back.

The Goodmans

Back Row: Uncle Eddie, Aunt Zelda, Uncle Max, Aunt Sarah, Uncle Mack
Front Row: Poppie Teddy & Bubbie Mollie (my grandparents), Aunt Stella, Uncle Ray, Aunt Ann, Joseph David and Rose (my Great-Grandparents).

There are six Goodman siblings in the photos - the seventh having not survived infancy. In order of age it went Stella (married Eddie), Max (and Ann), Teddy , Sarah (Mack), Zelda and Ray. Zeldie and Raymie now being the only ones remaining. Aunt Zeldie is almost ninety, but she still smiles like that when she tells stories...

I don't have a date for the photo. Upon talking to my father, we can place it between 1945 and 1952, since my grandfather would have been away for the army and Uncle Max died in 1952. Based on that Eddie and Stella are wearing the boutenier and corsage, we think it's an event related to them. Perhaps my cousin Marvin's Bar-Mitzvah, which would put it at about 1950, I think.

From the photo you put up a while back, you certainly seem to have taken after your granddad.

My cousin Marsha told me much the same thing. General consensus has been that, for the most part, I take most after my grandfathers - both in terms of looks and disposition.

More remarkably, though, is that my dad - increasingly - is looking more and more like his grandfather.

Oh, old family photo. It so strange to look at those and see what your family looked like centuries ago. My family is a mess with photos, we don't keep them in albums or anything just.. All over the place, so you never know when you'll stumbled on a gem.

My condolences for your aunt.

Thanks. It's definitely neat to look at the old photos, and use them to kick off a round of reminiscing and storytelling.

We're lucky we found this one - I think it's one of the best we have.

I love old photos, so much history.

Sadly, two of my favorites are gone forever. My grandmother sitting in a field, with her blonde waist-length hair spread out behind and around her. She must have been a teen-ager and she was quite the hottie.

My uncle Sidney, with a page boy and Little Lord Fauntleroy collar, sitting on a pickle barrel in my grandparents tiny-weeny grocery store. He was four years old.

I'm sorry to hear that you can't find them...

But certainly, it's neat. At home, my parents have a picture of my grandfather playing football as a young man, complete with leather helmet.

Very cool! So your grandfather fought in WWII? How long has your family been in the United States?

Thank you for sharing! I'm going to see if I can get some old photos of my mom's family scanned in too :)

My grandfather was actually too old to serve overseas. He was in the army, but stationed domestically.

My great-grandparents were born near Minsk. If memory serves correctly, he came over in 1904, and brought Rose over later. My grandfather was born in 1909. I'm not really certain whether Aunt Stella was born in Russia, or over here.

With my dad's passing, Mom has been doing a bit of closet cleaning. It keeps her busy but I think more she does not want my sisters and I to have to go through all the boxes. She has gathered all the old photos and is sorting them into boxes for each of us.

My younger sister and I were over mom's recently and we got diggin into the pics and they do bring back memories. And sometimes it is more "uh who are they?"

We are so glad last year we took a whole bunch of family group photos. My fav is the one of my dad, my husband, and my sister's beau all sitting on the couch with their arms and legs crossed. *eyeroll*

I love shit like this. We have a drawer at the shore house of old pictures, some on tin! I think it's so exciting, this window into the past. Thanks for sharing!
