I've been busy doing edits for Episode 7 of All Things Philosophical Virtual Season 6, and doing contract bids at work. So I was unable to complete any drabbles. Or at least, as of yet. Ideas:

1) Harmony/The Todd (x-over w/Scrubs) It's doable. Honest.
2) "Y'all gonna make me lose my mind, all up in this bizznotch!"

Initially, I thought it would be a funny Wes moment from "Life of the Party", but have since decided it would have worked better as an incogruous moment as a drunken Fred tries to rap while on a date with Gunn at a Karaoke bar. Ah well. I hand them off.

"Rant" Meme
from [livejournal.com profile] butterfly

1. Comment with any subject that you would like me to rant on, with possible swearing involved. Any subject - but notice you might want me to rant *against* the subject and I might rant *for* it. So. Also, I swear I won't post monster-rants. They'll be rantlets unless someone manages to hit a button.

2. Watch my journal for your rant.

3. Post this in your own journal, so that you may rant for others.

More likely, I'll just expound. Unless, you're looking for a 'Festivus'-style airing of grievances. No promises as to when I'll get to the responses.

Here you go:

Fred is drunk—not just ordinary smiley-relaxed drunk but sloppy, hyper wasted and damned if she isn’t up on that stage, shouting rap lyrics loudly into a microphone.

"Y'all gonna make me lose my mind, all up in this bizznotch!"

Gunn loves Fred, but she is the whitest of white girls and no amount of hip-hop karaoke free-styling and jerky shoulder moves with pseudo-gang signs is going to change that. Fact is, he wouldn’t want to and as embarrassed as he is, there’s something *very* Fred about this.

Still, next time he’ll think twice before ordering her that second cosmopolitan.

You really have to post this to [livejournal.com profile] open_on_sunday because it so very much kicks ass.

*g* I'm glad you like, since it's basically your drabble :) I posted it at OOS.

One rant please...

Current "popular" music.
Thursday, January 27th, 2005 04:18 (UTC)
Oh, lordy. I know so little about "current popular music" that I'm not sure I can even lay down a rant. The only "current" album I have is The Donnas, and they might as well be trapped in 1979. I'm just that stale and lame.

Or, alternatively, it means contemporary music must have gone to shit. If it were any good, wouldn't I be listening to that on my commute? Really. Cause I don't.

Exactly.

I'll be thinking about this. #4 is one heck of a question, with quite a lot of possible S7 ranting. In the meantime, I'll direct you to my Why Sports (http://www.livejournal.com/users/dlgood/16686.html) post from last year.

Although I'd love to hear you talk about politics and such, I really want to hear this: Why is Dook so damned overrated this year? Gah!
Thursday, January 27th, 2005 04:14 (UTC)
Overrated? Duke? This year?

Clearly, I think not. This current incarnation of the Duke squad is among the greatest in history, and consequently tonight's Maryland victory is an accomplishment of some great significance.

Greatest in history? Really? Are you being facetious (sometimes I can't tell!)? I've gotta disagree. I wouldn't even compare them to how they were a few years back when they went to the championship game (only to be put down by... Maryland!! Hahahaha!!) .

That said: I'm so happy for you guys! It was glorious. And wow -- I didn't realize how good Caner-Medley is. Even though I think they're overrated, it doesn't stop your win from being fantastic. Because overrated or not, they still hadn't lost a game prior to tonight. And damn, they looked bad tonight.

Wait. I have decided you are, indeed, being facetious. But that win was sweet. You guys are on an upswing now, huh? I'm rooting for you!

Oh, I'm definitely being facetious. Duke's alright. Actually, I figured they'd be as good or better than last year, because I expected them to have more depth. But this incarnation isn't as good as the teams with Jason Williams.

I wouldn't even compare them to how they were a few years back when they went to the championship game (only to be put down by... Maryland!! Hahahaha!!) .

Confused. The only Maryland teams that ever beat Duke in anything resemblind a championship games were the 1983-4 and 2003-4 teams, both of which beat Duke in the ACC title game. In 2001, Maryland played Duke in the Final Four and blew a 22-point lead...

And wow -- I didn't realize how good Caner-Medley is.

Yeah. Neither did I. He's so frustrating, because he shows flashes of being really good, and then he has games where he'd disappear and do nothing, or when he would turn into a total turnover machine, trying to go one-on-one with four defenders or something. But he's really been coming on in the past two weeks.
