Have today off to run errands for my kid sister's upcoming wedding. (This Sunday) I'll just drop a few minor comments, given my general lack of content in this space.
The "cc" line on emails.
I recognize that no one likes to get spammed all the time with excessive emails. And it's no fun to have to print or read on blackberry an e-mail with a giant cc list. However, sometimes I cc people for a purpose.
For example, my customer/boss. I cc my boss on pretty much ever communication of significant import. Because I don't want things to slam to a grinding halt if I'm away from my desk. (For security reasons, my navy email is near-impossible to access anywhere other than my desk at work.)
For the past two months or so, we've been exceedingly busy to meet our reporting requirements to congress and this has involved me running all over the place with the Big Boss and managing massive amounts of requests for my direct boss.
And if I'm out of the office and the one guy we need to get stuff to my group only sends it to me, and doesn't cc my direct boss... aargh. Then nothing gets done and I'm extra buried again when I get back.
Oh, it's such a little thing. But we have this whole system set up to manage all of the crap we have to do, and it is no fun when it doesn't happen right.
Especially when it means I get fifteen work calls on my day off.
