So, I haven't really done much exercise for the past month. This is bad...

I have a bowflex in the basement. It's not mine - my buddy John got it to exercise, and ran out of space in his own apartment, so I became his gracious host. However, I don't particularly like working out, so I only use it when John comes over to work out himself. But, John's been sick and busy with his own job, and my routine has disappeared.

It's not that I'm tremendously overweight or out of shape. I'm 5'10" and 185 or so, which, given that I have a broad-shouldered and fairly muscular build really isn't that bad. I'd like to shave another belt notch off the waist, but so far have only succeeded in firming up the gut. My real problem is my conditioning. I used to play basketball every other day, but my chronically bad ankle has been acting up recently and I haven't really had the time either. I'm not an "Athlete" these days, but I do like to be able to run the stairs without getting winded. I'm looking to start playing flag football with the alums this fall, and it's not going to be much fun if I'm slow as molassess, devoid of any jumping ability, and tuckered out after a few trips up and down the field. Plus, extra weight isn't really good for my creaky legs.

At least I've still got my highly powerful, yet stunningly erratic, throwing arm.

I don't want to become old, weak, and feeble. But I find working out on my own to be ridiculously boring. Must find some way to kick my own ass out of the comfy chair...
