I need not remind you that it takes TWO GREAT TEAMS to make a great game. Well done to your team to push into sudden death overtime. At that stage it could easily have gone the other way.

Still.....I *am* happier we got it and broke the gold medal record too! But if it had gone the other way I would have expected you to be rejoicing and wouldn't have begrudged it.....much. ;-)

Yes, the US played very well as a team. Oh it would have been very nice to have won, but I'm still surprised by how much 1980 sustains me. Even if I was just a little kid at the time. I was actually more upset by the Russia game - not wanting to see Ovie go out with a whimper just as the Caps did against the Penguins in game 7 of the playoffs last year.

That's sort of a weird thing - rooting for my country on one hand, and then rooting for Sweden/Russia because they have my City's pro players - which is an odd dynamic for me.

Honestly, I'm glad the medal counts worked out nicely for the host nation. At the end of the events, I'm still largely rooting for a good show.
