Go Navy! Beat Army!

Will be spending the Army-Navy game at the new PMs house. CAPT is very cool, so I am happy.

In the meantime, have some thinky thoughts about our two topics du jour in sports.

1. The Heisman Trophy, which should go to Ndamukong Suh (DT, Nebraska) who may in fact be better himself than the entire Alabama Defensive line. High praise, since Alabama's D-Line is one of the tops in the nation. Given that Suh does not (A) play a glamor-boy offensive position (B) play for a national title contender (C) have high recognition and hype machine (D) have a name many people can spell or pronounce -- I do not expect him to win. But he might, and it would be awesome if he did. Even if it means they can't retroactively go back and give Eddie George's Heisman to Orlando Pace -- it'll be good to show the trophy can go to any player. Of course it'd also be nice if any team could win a title, but I won't hold my breath.

2. Tiger Woods. Of course, this requires it's own post, because there's a lot to break down. Let's shoot for me having something by Sunday. Nobody reads anything you put out on a Friday Night anyway. Plus, I've got a card game in 15 minutes.

wait... they haven't played the Army/Navy game yet? wut? geez, I just kind of figured it was played last weekend when I was in the backwoods of Virginia (literally).

nope - they pushed it back to have the weekend for themselves

Without Suh, Nebraska loses to Mizzou again this year and the Tigers go to the conference title game instead of Nebraska. Then Texas stops Mizzou and McCoy wins the Heisman in a walk. I don't know if the award is still for most valuable player instead of best player, but if it is Suh, certainly deserves a good showing in the voting.

Technically it's "Most Outstanding", though not in actuality.

I wanted to say "Texas stomps Mizzou"

I totally agree about Suh, and since I grew up hating Nebraska football right along with all of Missouri sports, that's saying a lot! He is incredible to watch.

As my dad was a Navy man - I will join your salute in his honor! Go Navy! Beat Army!

Hope luck was with your cards!

I have to disagree just a tad about Suh being better than our defensive line (but that's only because I'm a tad nutso about my team), but I do agree that he is fantastic. Of course, I'm pulling for the home team, but if Ingram doesn't win it, I'd lovelovelove for Suh, too. Putting aside all my bias, he probably is the most deserving. He is a BEAST on the field, absolutely dominating.

However, I'm still pulling for Ingram.

Slight overstatement, but see the chart comparing various Top defensive lines:

I knew he wasn't going to win, and I'm more disappointed he dropped behind McCoy, which just shows that at least 250 Heisman voters (the ones who put McCoy or Tebow at #1) don't watch all of the games or vote on something other than who is the most outstanding player.

In any case, congratulations for your boy. Seems like a very sweet kid, and certainly a heartfelt and nice moment. Just hope he doesn't wind up being this year's Gino Torreta...
