First Impression: Bloomington

Quick impression: Assembly Hall may be the coolest place there is to watch college basketball...

French Lick, OTOH, was not quite as cool.

Assembly Hall does look cool, but I would have thought that with a name like "French Lick" it would be cool too. Or is that just me?

It used to be cool. When I was a kid, teenagers would drive there for the t-shirts, and whatever. A Rolling Stones motif if I remember right.

It's called French Lick because it had old mineral and salt deposits (the lick) and some French people lived there or something. The really weak part is... they have this Casino, and the serve you drinks at the card tables. And then charge you money for drinks.

Do they not know how this works? They don't charge you for booze, you drink up, and then lose them lots of money by gambling all dumb like. That is the way of the world.

It was just another town in the countryside. It did not live up to any expectations of being more special than that.
