Yours truly has decided to get the hell out of DC during Inauguration weekend. (You know you're a DC Area Native when you flee History-in-the-Making just to avoid the traffic...)

Contemplating Craigslist. Is anyone dumb enough to rent my house without realizing that it won't be remotely convenient to the mall given what traffic will do to the region?

So, it being winter, what lush, Tropical locale have I selected? Why, I've made the bold choice to go to... Bloomington, Indiana... because one of my best friends is now ensconced on the faculty of IU and they have a home game.

Yeah Boyee! I guess I'll leave my Wolverines gear back at the ranch...

Re Craigslist, probably, heh.

Bloomington. Yeah, that's lush and tropical.

*snicker*

I'll wave at you from Evansville.

you go with your bad ass (freezing) jaded self.

It better not snow... or make me long for those Michigan winters.

If those cities weren't so surprisingly far apart, I'd have invited you to drop by for lunch...

I will go...

Aww, that would've been fun!

(Speaking of fun, did you get your story? Kirk/Illyria?)
Friday, December 12th, 2008 02:05 (UTC)
Yes. Excellent. See, Kirk is able to depart from his usual preference for green babes...

Hee! I bet someone would totally rent both your house and your car.

And I totally understand the urge to get out of town. Unfortunately, [livejournal.com profile] ironchefjoe couldn't bail on work for the RNC. *spits*

Yep, those Hoosiers are awake during basketball season!

Friday, December 12th, 2008 02:20 (UTC)
Maybe not this year, though. They're putrid.

And Illyria's thinking, "He might make a good footstool...."
Friday, December 12th, 2008 03:05 (UTC)
Clearly, this situation calls for a follow-up incorporating Illyria's perspective...

I'm having the same thoughts about Vancouver during the Olympics in 2010. Can't get tickets for anything anyway, so I'd just as soon be somewhere warm!
I'll probably just hang out in my house in front of the TV, though.

Hmmm...that would mean finding Angel Season V on DVD, since I don't remember enough to write her. Hmm.

Have fun!

I can't even imagine the traffic. It's bad enough in Toronto when the Grey Cup is in town. I don't even want to think about the traffic around something like that. Also, I think your choice of tropical locale is an excellent one.

And I don't know much abotu college sports, but yeah. Leave the not-home-team gear at home. I'd hate to picture you on the wrong end of a sports riot.

Bummer for Joe.

Well you could go to the farm, or visit Nin again...

I should note - I was being ironic in calling Bloomington Indiana "tropical" - as it will probably be plenty cold there. I'm going because that's where my friend is, and Washington DC can be potentially paralyzed by traffic.

And also, Michigan (one of the colleges I attended) is a natural rival of Indiana. I can wear my Maryland stuff as Indiana and Maryland never play each other in anything.

Thanks!@

Seriously - our region was not designed with the commuting patterns we now face in mind. The last inauguration, it took me 3 hours to get home (compared to the 35-45 mins it usually takes.)
Wednesday, December 17th, 2008 03:22 (UTC)
Okay, I'm not so bad at geography that I'd think Indiana's going to be remotely warm this time of year. I was simply going along with the joke - I promise. My irony isn't all it could be when I'm doing LJ replies, I guess.

My bad. Certain forms of expression get lost in the typed form... ;)
