Have returned home following my Odyssey to Vancouver, BC. Despite temperatures being below season averages, and the abundance of rainfall - found it to be a most enjoyable environment. Particularly in contrast to DC's heat/humidity combo that rendered me feeling extremely gross within five minutes exposure to my native air. Return trip was otherwise uneventful, though getting my own row on the 5+ hour red-eye flight from Vancouver to Philly was nice.

A big thumbs up to the lovely, tree-laden University of British Columbia campus, and it's plentiful trees. Had I been a young Canadian teen, I probably would have wanted to go there. Particularly a fan of the Mahony & Sons Pub - not that I could have afforded being a regular in my undergrad days.

More notable is the awesomeness of [livejournal.com profile] midnightsjane for her fine effort in coordinating the Gathering. (Notable for it's stunning lack of beheadings, as compared to other gatherings in Vancouver.)

In between the sightseeing, episode watching, philosophizing, and general hanging out, Jane took us through the neighborhood to the Burgoo Bistro (another fave of Dave) and out to the farm, where I got to hang with my new best pal, Stanley Schnauzer. Spent our last moments in Vancouver looking at the Farm from Outer Space. Google Earth is Cool.

And perhaps, we may even generate some product out of this one. I don't know that I see myself actually writing that "Beer Bad" Episode Commentary as delivered by the GEICO Cavemen - but I may at least start back up with drabbles soon.

And maybe we can tease you with the possibility of finally finishing off Season 6.

Just came back from the farm, and Stanley told me that you are definitely his new BFF. :)
I told Sue about our finding the farm on Google Earth and she was delighted...
She was also really pleased to hear that all you guys enjoyed seeing the farm and the horses; I think she was a bit surprised at its fame!
It is way too quiet here all by my lonesome..although we have had a Sam sighting.
You totally have to write that Beer Bad commentary!

I suppose it's not a big farm, certainly not like some huge corporate enterprise or like some of the big cattle ranches I saw in Wyoming. But to a suburbanite, a foaling is exciting.

In my case, I'm mostly a dog person. A good boy like Stanley will keep me entertained for a while no matter what else is going on.(And distract me from mucking stables...)

I'm going to try to see Sophie and Harry tomorrow, rain pending.
