1. Sean Taylor voted to start in the Pro Bowl. I wonder how the league will honor him at the game. Will there be a ceremonial crushing of a punter?

2. Had office holiday party today - which I missed most of because we got scheduled to brief a congressional staffer at the same time. We have a great office, and things are going well, but there are some niggling things that amounted to a bit of a buzzkill. On the positive side, I baked chocolate chip brownies and there were No Leftovers - which is impressive given sheer volume of food and deserts - which means I AM THE WINNER.

3. Am entertained by this YouTube clip from the Jimmy Durante Show.

Bonus nickels to the first person who can ID the guitarist in the striped shirt.

3. Why, that would be good ol' Creed Bratton.

2. Chocolate chip brownies? Yum! You are clearly the winner at not only the office Christmas party but also at life.

3. There's a great clip of them singing Midnight Confessions, and the lead singer has one of those glorious sixties 'staches (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Sk4I7ZO6qk). I would have liked too much mediocre music of that era, in addition to all the good stuff I rightly like.

You totally are. I have never seen that side of you before Dave!

Oh, and I love that song. Thanks for posting it.

Given a mix and some basic guidelines, I can do basic baking and cooking and even do a minimal amount of improvising. I just generally don't.

I had no idea you could bake! What other hidden talents do you posses?

Give me a deli board and a grill, and I will go to town.

The timing of the video is interesting to me. Durante had a variety show in the 1969-70 season, but these guys with their tidy helmet hair are much too clean-cut for then. This clip probably came from a special about the time the song came out in 1967. Amazing how much change a couple of years would make in how most guys, not just bands, would look.

Yeah... I'm pretty sure the clip is '67. These guys got hairy too, but stylewise they're not nearly the radical transformations like David Crosby or Jerry Garcia...

CREED!! I loved it when they showed that on The Office's Booze Cruise ep.

ROCK! And dammit, if there are no brownies left over, what will I eat late at night when I shouldn't be eating?

Personally, I'm a sucker for the "where are they now" and "where did they come from" stuff...

I think I actually saw that show.
OMG, I'm getting old..
You baked brownies? I'm impressed!

Sometimes, I am quite jealous of the idea that your generation got to see this stuff live and fresh. But then, I also remember that there was probably an enormous amount of dreck which did not survive to today, but which you had to sit through and I did not.

Ah, yes, the sacrifices my generation endured to make the music world safe for yours...LOL.
