So, I was out of town for most of the last week. HOpe I haven't missed anything in the world...

Here;s what was up:

1. Maryland-West Virginia. Ouch. We got stomped. Them WVU kids is fast.

2. Went to Chicago for my ol' neighbor's wedding.

I hadn't talked too much about that recently... my family, and my neighbors from back home have always been very close. Mr is a super-huge baseball fan, and a partner in his family's third-generation accounting firm. He helped us with my Grandmother's hospice and he was the little league umpire. That sort of thing.

THe Mrs. was like our neighborhood's Martha Stewart. But without the blithe, patronizing, thing. Our dogs always played together. That sort of stuff.

BigBro is a little older than my big sis. We always played sports in their yard - board games - all that kind of kid stuff. He hosted me in Pittsburgh (where he works as an accountant, just like his dad) when I made my College Tours and juggles and is in general a fun guy.

It was the sister's wedding. She's about a year and a half older than me... we teased her when she was a kid because she was nice, but kind of princess-y. Then we hit high school, and she became super-duper hot.

You know how, on TV shows, the 'ugly nerds' are usually as hot as the hottest person at your own school. My neighbor is TV Hot. Actually, when she went to London (she's an accountant too) she was on a British TV show.

Yeah, I bet that she'd end up marrying some sort of european royalty. Turned out to not be entirely true. She's marrying a dude that's half-dutch and from a family with some wealth -- but they have no Title, so I lose on that.

I digress. In any case, our families are tight. So when she got married in Chicago, we all headed out.

Big fun was had. The wedding party was loaded with her London friends, so it was quite international. THey imported some swedish tradition of handing out a wedding book with miniature bios on all the guests. It's a good thing my Brother-in-Law didn't know about it at the time, because he would have created one with dirty, dirty lies like that time he vandalized my wikipedia page.

Mostly, I stuffed myself on deep dish Pizza, beef sandwiches, Garret's Popcorn and other chicago cuisine. ANd got blitzed. There was important text messaging of football scores during the ceremony. Good times.

Also, did you know that the Dutch are now the tallest people on earth? I did not know that, but do now. (BTW, someone should have told the bride the connotation of 'Dutch Uncle' to Americans so that she wouldn't have filled her book with references to the groom's Dutch Uncles as 'Dutch Uncles' - because his Dutch Uncles are actually nice people)

So one of the Dutch Cousins was 6'8" or so and maybe 150 lbs, and he danced like he was John Cleese in the Ministry of Silly Walks sketch. And damned if it didn't work, mostly because he clearly was dancing with NO FEAR as one must if one is such a ...different... breed of dancers.

Except, he kicked me! Dude! You must watch where your legs are going!

How am I going to get my swerve on with the Groom's sister, or one of his hot european cousins, if I am clutching my shins in pain?

sounds like a great wedding (including the John Cleese dancer) and I'm giggling over the bother in law vandalism.

and yes, Europeans are continuing to get taller while Americans are not. We don't know why

My brother-in-law is very impish. Both in temperament and stature...

Seriously, that guy's dancing was mesmerizing. He was all knees and elbows, and gangly limbs.
