The Bowl Picks

This week, I am apparently all drabbled out. So instead, I will go ahead and post my predictions for this season's Bowl Games - something almost none of my Friendslist will care about. However, those who care in the slightest, may certainly use this as a way to come back and mock me on January 5, when my picks fail to pan.

Keep in mind, I have no particular expertise beyond having watched several of the regular season major conference games. Predicitons should not be used as the basis for cash wagers, and I won't be betting on any of these anyway. Picks in Bold.

As a resident of Ann Arbor, I should probably protest your pick for the Rose Bowl, but I've seen Michigan blow it too many times in the clutch.

My first game as a student at Michigan was the disastrous 1998 Season opener at Notre Dame where the Michigan Offense (featuring 11 NFL players) committed 6 turnovers en-route to a 36-23 come-from-ahead defeat.

In fact, you might note that I also selected West Virginia to beat Maryland in the Gator Bowl, thus picking against both of my Alma Maters.

I don't follow this at all (I don't even know who the hell these teams are!) but you comment about betting made me laugh.

When I started my current job, seven years ago, it turned out that I was sitting next to the department's unofficial bookie - he ran all the football/basketball pools. Inside of a month I had met almost everyone in the entire department.

And to think, I just put that "wager" comment out as a "wacky" disclaimer.

*clueless*

Sounds like fun! :D

Tis the season for College Football Bowl games. Basically, teams are invited to "Bowl" games, usually based upon how they perform in their conferences.

Since there are 115 Division I-A college teams, most of these games are exhibitions, except that this year's Sugar Bowl winner will likely be voted "National Champion".

Because unlike almost every sports league in exisence, there is no playoff in Division I-A Men's College Football.

LSU. ::nods:: You are wise.

USC. ::shakes just a little in memory of the bad seasons:: It's good to see Pete Carroll happy. Clearly pro was not his universe, while college is.

Indeed - it is strange that Pete Carroll could do so poorly with all those NFL players in the pros, yet do so well with all of those NFL players in college.
