Done! I am done, dammit!

Title: "Bakery".
Status: Complete
Disclaimer: All characters are property of Mutant Enemy. Except for the ones that aren't.
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: BtVS up through S7.22 "Chosen", AtS up through 4.22 - "Home"
Summary: The war with the First Evil is over. What will Buffy do now?

That only took me a month to wrap up. I suspect the ending will be something of a letdown because I've left it in a place where I could come back and continue Buffy's story for another 10 plus chapters. In theory, I could still pick it up. But, I don't have the energy or the inspiration right now, and I don't want it hanging over my head for another month, so I've found the thematic leave-off point and left off thematically. I hope my seven readers won't tar and feather me for it...

And on not doing a pat, happy ending...which I would have hated. This was very much an impressionistic sort of narrative, and I like the snapshots approach for a number of reasons. The little vignettes seem oddly appropriate for the Scoobies and the Fang Gang's ways of life...episodic, if you know what I mean.

This struck me: Riley had some more suggestions for personality tests and some of the endurance tests he'd gone through with the army. Before Fred could get carried away, the group decided to break off discussion and get some rest. because it got me thinking, I wonder how Buffy would score on, what is it, Myers/Brinks? You know, the one that says I am an INTJ.

What do you think Buffy would be?

Anyway, I loved it because it wasn't overly sentimental, pat, or happy, yet it offered perfect little moments of scoobie-hood in an adult, yet properly characterized way.

See, I can rise above the sex-fiend thing and appreciate well-written stories that don't include nasty sex! Really I can....

-Rhi (still wishing that Dave would write some porn, cause she needs a male perspective on it on her friends list)

Thanks. Glad you liked the form. And here I was going with it to cover up my limitations with narrative.

I don't know how these characters would score on the Myers-Briggs, although I'd guess Buffy might be ISTJ. I've done the tests a few times, and I'm usually either ENTJ or INTJ depending upon my mood that week.

I really enjoyed that. Simply because it didn't take the road so readily travelled and instead ventured on something that that writer's left hanging. Something that Buffy would have wished for herself.
