A little while back, [livejournal.com profile] ann1962 brought up mention of college application essays. Just for the sake of hilarity, I decided to go dig my old "personal statement" up. Which, just for kicks, I'll submit for you're pleasure. I've even resisted my impulse to re-write it just upon looking.

Let's keep a few things in mind. I wrote this, about eleven years ago. I had a really good transcript and a decent resume, so it would have had little or no impact on my acceptance. (Though some possible impact on the scholarships I was up for at the time.) I have no idea whether this is actually good or not, and I don't even remember what the question I was working from was. On the other hand, I know I did a good job helping my younger sister when she wrote statement a few years later.

So without further ado:

My personal statement... )
