Had dinner with Matt, my former college roommate.
He's a great guy, who sadly, I don't get to hang out with all that much anymore. What with him being a responsible grownup with a family of his own. In any case, his wife is due in December with their second child. They're still conflicted on the naming.
Brian, their 22-month-old son seems to be partial to "Dave", which is very amusing, but Matt and Julie are pretty much down to "Colin" and "Christopher", which I think are both fine choices. Neither of them, I think, are family-related. Just choices they like. Matt has one of those last names, where I think you sound cooler with a short first name. So Colin goes okay, and I think Chris is real cool, but Christopher is kind of awkward.
They'll have two little boys (not so little if the baby is as big as Brian is turning out to be) born two decembers apart. Julie was an elementary schoolteacher (nowadays, she tutors) before they had Brian, and Matt's a counselor in the public school system. They're super smart, and super nice, and a sweet little family. I do feel kind of sad for the kids that aren't going to have her as a teacher, because she's awesome, but she's an awesome mommy too.
Stuff like this always makes me very happy.
