What's red, white and blue, and plays golf in May?

The Flames?...wait, no blue. The Oilers?

The Washington Capitals.

Sure. I hear hockey is somewhat popular in your town.

I read this post last night and didn't know what you were referring to as I haven't been following the games. Then I went upstairs and saw what was on the tv.

Yikes.

Yay! ....er, I mean, you have my sympathies, Dave. Canadians have been soooo ungracious lately. First there was the Olympic Gold Medal Game and now this. We're losing our "losing" reputation. ;-)

This isn't about you, so we aren't really aware of your victory celebration. In DC, we are more concerned with Caps' history of playoff chokes. That and, what's up with Ovie not getting a big win this year?

Yikes indeed. I actually put this post up when the game was still in the second period. I was pretty well prepped to accept another entry in my team's history of playoff disappointments as soon as they lost game 5. Does your husband follow the sport, or is he one of those Canadians who left primarily because he doesn't care about hockey?

Oh no, he loves hockey and has been following along. I like it but I don't have the patience to watch that many games any more.

also the New York Rangers. :(
Thursday, April 29th, 2010 23:29 (UTC)
Ah. Then he will understand (though possibly laugh at) my pain.
Thursday, April 29th, 2010 23:29 (UTC)
Yes, but the Rangers weren't supposed to be good. Why must we always wet the bed?
Friday, April 30th, 2010 03:11 (UTC)
He didn't laugh. He was as shocked by the loss as anyone.

Yeah - the recriminations are pretty high around here right now. Everyone expected this to be the team's year, and flopping like this is just unacceptable. It's particularly bad because this was a golden moment for Hockey to step up and be a big deal in DC, where it's usually an afterthought. And it really tarnishes the team and their big stars to go out this way.

This has been a bad month for me, and the Hockey was supposed to be a nice escape...

I hope this new month is an improvement over the last.

Awww. Sorry, man! :(
