Fun side effect of working right down the street from a Major League Baseball Stadium. When the pope comes to town to give, everybody takes off to avoid the crazy traffic and crowds.

Tagged by [livejournal.com profile] midnightsjane, List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.

  1. I love sleeping in on workdays. I pretty much never get to. I generally have to wake up by 0530, so days like today are just very very sweet.

  2. I am addicted to the 'BrickBreaker' (basically it's Breakout/Arkanoid) game on my BlackBerry. The more simple a game is, generally, the more I've gotten into it.

  3. I can't remember the last time I've read a novel.

  4. But I read the newspaper (Washington Post) from cover to cover every day. And sometimes, I also read other newspapers too. Plus, daily industry clips, though that doesn't really count.

  5. I've developed a remarkable preference for step-in shoes. Especially now that I have to wear the orthotics, I just get really annoyed with having to lace up my shoes. And I want to be able to get those puppies on and off at a moment's notice.

  6. I have 1928 Coke Rewards Points. I've got 10 twelve-packs of cans in my house, none of which I paid for.

  7. Have made a personal pledge to stop eating the candy/cookies peeople set out at the office. Am not doing well on that personal pledge.

5:30 seems like a ridiculous time to have to get up.

I can't remember the last time I've read a novel.
I'm not sure this is something you should be admitting. *g* Do you not enjoy reading fiction?

It's early, and it does seem ridiculous some days. But I do generally have to get to the office in the 7 o'clock hour, and I don't like traffic. So if I want to take the time to have a good shower and breakfast before I get out, I've got to be up early.

As to the novels... it's not that I dislike fiction, per se. It's more about how I tend to budget time. Given preferences, I'd be reading long form non-fiction (usually histories) and fiction in short story form. Novels require a level of immersion or engagement I just tend not to be looking to put in.

You sound like my husband! Although he's managed to figure out a way to even make his lace up shoes step-ins! He says it hurts his back to bend over and tie them. Personally, I think he's just lazy! *g*

Good luck with that one! I've made it several times myself.

Re: Shoes... I'm definitely lazy. I'm not going to sugarcoat or excuse..
