I was reacting to the use of "Tends to be very reflective of traits of the people who make up those societies" with an argument that the corrupt institutions depicted in Joss’s fictional world implies a deep cynicism about humanity as a whole.
With the more specific criticism of the plotting in Power Play/ Not Fade Away I tend to agree, they needed to wrap up the series and resorted to a standard genre trope. It was sloppy.
