Angel travelled to Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg and Vancouver to attend the first four games of the 1972 Canada-Russia series. He desperately wanted to go to Moscow for the final four games, but he couldn't fly and surface travel would have taken weeks; so he rented a room in a run-down apartment block off Vancouver's Hastings Street, parked himself on the bed and stayed glued to the TV set all week. When Paul Henderson scored in Game 8, Angel jumped up on the mattress with such enthusiasm that his feet plunged through the springs and into the floor. Luckily everyone else in the building was also jumping up and down, so no one noticed the noise. Angel also suspects that the Russian goalie, Vladislav Tretiak, is a demon. No one's knees can bend that way without supernatural help.
